Where to invest in Algiers? A guide to the prime neighbourhoods

By Ihkem · Manazil Ihkem · 5 min read

Each prime neighbourhood in Algiers has its own character, atmosphere and clientele. Before deciding where to buy, here is an overview of the addresses that matter, and who each one suits best.

Hydra

The most prestigious

This is the benchmark address for the Algiers high-end market. Quiet, secure and residential, Hydra is home to grand residences, villas and embassies. It is also the most expensive district in the capital. For anyone after prestige and calm, with no compromise on location.

El Biar

Residential chic

Up on the heights, El Biar charms with its fine views, its residential feel and its closeness to the centre. A sought-after, elegant district that blends character with convenience. Ideal for a prime main home.

Ben Aknoun

Green and family-friendly

More open and leafy, Ben Aknoun offers an excellent balance of quality, green space and good road access. Popular with families, it is a rising district with an appealing quality-of-life-to-price ratio.

Dely Ibrahim

A family favourite

Residential and sought-after, Dely Ibrahim draws families for its schools, shops and calm. A safe, practical district, often a little more affordable than Hydra or El Biar for comparable quality.

Chéraga

Booming

To the west, Chéraga combines quality residential areas with commercial energy. The district is developing fast, with recent developments that make it an attractive option for investment, especially in new-build.

The seafront: Sidi Fredj and around

Seaside living

For those who dream of the sea, the western coastline offers a sought-after seaside setting, perfect as a second home or for high-end seasonal rentals. Note that some very private, gated areas have particular legal statuses, to be checked case by case.

How to choose

The right neighbourhood comes down to three things: your budget, your lifestyle and your goal. For a main home, the setting and safety come first. For a rental investment, you look at demand and yield. For a second home, location and lifestyle take priority. My job is to guide you towards the neighbourhood, then the property, that truly fits your plan.
